A Birthday Weekend to Remember: Exploring New Mexico’s Wonders

Thursday 15th – Drive all night:

Friday 16th – Gila National Forest:

My first destination was the expansive Gila National Forest. The sheer size of this natural wonder left me in awe, and the excitement reached a peak as I almost ran out of gas – a spontaneous twist to my journey. Eventually, I found my haven at Dome, located in the city of Truth or Consequences. The camping Glamp awaited, promising a unique and comfortable experience.

Saturday 17th – Camp Glamp Hot Springs Tub & Santa Fe Exploration:

Waking up to the warmth of the Camp Glamp hot springs tub set the tone for a day of relaxation. The serenity continued at Riverbend Hot Springs, where the sunrise painted the sky with breathtaking hues. Transitioning to Santa Fe, I savored dinner at the Bourbon Grill, indulging in a feast of steak and lobster.

Sunday 18th – Santa Fe Exploration Continues:

The morning began with the vibrant energy of the farmers market, a sensory delight of colors and flavors. Santa Fe Rail Yard and Plaza offered a blend of history and contemporary charm, with visits to the Cathedral of Basilica and Loretto Chapel adding a touch of spiritual serenity. The adventurous palate was satisfied at The Shed, where Christmas style Chile enchiladas delivered a spicy kick.

My exploration extended to thrifting at Goodwill, finding hidden treasures, and a visit to Jackalope Plant and Pottery Shop, where I embraced the desert spirit with cactus acquisitions. As the sun set on this incredible journey, I bid farewell to New Mexico, taking with me the memories of a birthday weekend filled with art, culture, and the warmth of the southwestern spirit.
